There are many battery cases for iPhone 5 that don’t stand out when it comes to design, but MyCharge Freedom Series 2000 PowerCase isn’t one of them. In fact, that silver-themed battery panel is so sleek it makes up for the $99.99 price alone, although there’s a lot more to this iPhone 5 battery case that catches the eye.
The Freedom Series 2000 was first showcased at CES 2013 and it immediately became a must-have for the fashion-forward iPhone 5 owner. It is one of the three models available in the Freedom series, along with a 1500 mAh battery pack that sells for $80 and a Samsung Galaxy S3 power product with a 2500 mAh battery that’s priced at $100.

“Experience the highest level of innovation in portable charging cases – the perfect balance between protection, function and fashion” reads MyCharge’s product info on their website. And at least for once, we’re happy to see an iPhone 5 battery case with an in-built Apple Lightning Connector, 2000 mAh Lithium Polymer battery (that makes for 9 extra hours of talk) and elegant design.
The Freedom 2000 for iPhone 5 charges via an included USB to Micro-USB cable. The charging tether makes the connection between the Freedom PowerCase and your iPhone 5’s battery via one of the finest-looking designs we’ve seen so far. When it’s fully charged all you have to do is press fit your iPhone 5 into the battery case and then press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to begin charging. There’s also a battery level check button. You’ll see the LED color change according to the energy level. Solid green means the device is fully charged, a flashing green indicates the power level is 71-99%, a flashing yellow stands for 41-70%, whereas a flashing red is 0-40%.
Later this month, MyCharge is expected to make available all of its Freedom Series power products and release the interchangeable outer shells too. For now, the Freedom Series 2000 mAh iPhone 5 battery case is available in two colors, black and silver, but we’re waiting impatiently for the multitude of colorful and decorated shells MyCharge has presented at CES 2013.
The Freedom 2000 will set you back $99.99, but just look at that silver battery case and tell me you don’t love it to death?!
